Suntan Special and OS/2 Licensing
OS/2 is licensed software. There is no free version of OS/2.
You can say OS/2 is abandonware, since IBM no longer markets it to the general public. Even so, it is protected by copyright and will be for a long time. No version of OS/2 is "free". ArcaOS is based on an IBM licensed OS/2. It's still for sale.
That said, you can freely download any number of OS/2 versions. If you are a licensed OS/2 user, you can legitimately use these downloaded versions.
Suntan Special is made for OS/2 users, who can be categorized according to their licenses. People want to try something different, and I see a lot of copies that can be downloaded. I trust my users to adhere to the terms of their licenses.
Suntan Special does not distribute IBM (or anyone else's) reserved features. If reserved features are needed, then the user can download a copy from the Internet after acknowledging that it is licensed software. Blonde Guy does not host the IBM licensed software on his public site.
Suntan Special uses a platform sequence to apply fixes and enhancements appropriate to the users license class. For each of these, Suntan Special will be configured to install what the user could have downloaded with their legal license.
